Challenge

Clients were managing their plastic packaging purchases entirely through phone and email, making the process slow, manual, and prone to errors. Tracking inventory, placing orders, and requesting quotes required constant back-and-forth communication, resulting in operational inefficiencies.

Additionally, most inventory orders operated under a release-based system, where clients would purchase large stock quantities but request partial deliveries over time — making inventory management even more complex.

The challenge was to digitally transform this process into a clear and efficient platform that centralized all customer operations.

Goal

Support the company’s digital transformation by designing a platform that consolidated quotes, orders, inventory management, and lead tracking into a single, customer-friendly experience.

The goal was to reduce reliance on phone and email communications, enabling clients to independently manage their purchases, schedule inventory releases, and track order history with minimal friction.

Solution

I approached the project using a design thinking framework to ensure the platform addressed both customer and business needs. I began by conducting stakeholder interviews to gather insights about their current pain points and expectations. This helped me understand the challenges of managing different sets of tasks through phone and email, as well as the business’s operational goals.

Next, I mapped out user flows to visualize how clients would navigate through key processes like requesting quotes, placing orders, and managing inventory. I then created low-fidelity mockups to explore potential solutions and presented them to stakeholders for feedback. To improve usability, I adapted layouts based on different tasks, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.

Once we aligned on the direction, I built interactive prototypes for user testing, allowing us to validate the designs and uncover usability issues early. I collaborated closely with Product Owners, stakeholders, and developers throughout the process to ensure the designs were both feasible and aligned with business goals.

By following an iterative process of testing and refining, we delivered a platform that streamlined the purchasing process, allowing clients to independently manage quotes, orders, and inventory — significantly reducing reliance on phone and email communication and driving the company’s digital transformation.
